Know the FACTS
We will now have in office a president who supports working families and making labor law work for workers, not corporations. But Big Business is ready to fight and will spend millions on a public campaign of fear and misinformation to try to defeat the bill that would save the struggling middle class and revitalize the economy.
Our work has just begun.
We are developing a plan with the St. Paul Trades and Labor Assembly to continue mobilizing union members and the public to build support for the Employee Free Choice Act, which would do three things for workers wishing to organize:
- Allow workers to choose to form a union through the process of majority sign-up.
- Create a legally-binding timeline for a first contract.
- Strengthen penalties for employers that illegally fire or coerce employees for union activity.
We will keep you posted with action alerts and what you can do to educate your co-workers, families and neighbors about this act and how it will restore workers' rights and help rebuild the economy.
