Stop the campaign of intimidation and lies in Northfield!

When workers at the Northfield Cub Foods decided to organize, SuperValu - a UNION employer with organized workers in 90% of its Minnesota shops - swiftly launched an anti-union campaign of captive audience meetings and one-on-one meetings filled with lies and misleading information about the union.

In daily meetings, the corporate SuperValu union-busting team is telling workers that:

• With a union, Northfield workers will be forcibly transferred to other parts of the state, and that they will not be able to negotiate this issue.
• Employees will have to pay hundreds of dollars in fees if they decide to join the union.
• The union is an outside business that makes empty promises rather than an organization of workers.
• Workers will have to pay union dues as soon as the majority votes yes in a union election, no matter how long it takes to negotiate a first contract.
• A union contract is "just a blank piece of paper," and that SuperValu won't guarantee that it will negotiate fairly.

These lies are meant to scare workers out of forming a union, and this behavior is unacceptable.

"As community members, people of faith, and proud union members, we are outraged that SuperValu management has chosen to engage in a campaign of intimidation and misinformation against Cub employees in Northfield . The union busting tactics being used to prevent Cub workers from joining the UFCW are completely unacceptable. Cub workers should be allowed a free and fair choice without coercion by management."
